Decreased ROM of neck rotation.
Tension in upper trapezius, levator scapulae and supraspinatus.
This is a good warmup technique before other neck work.
Stay within your clients’ comfort range.
With your client supine, rotate their head to one side. Your hand underneath their head may rest on the table with your thumb in front of your clients ear and your fingers on their occiput.
With your other hand stroke down the side of the neck with your palm, then stretch the neck by pressing the shoulder joint inferiorally as you pull on the occiput. Then glide over the front of the shoulder then up the back side with your fingertips.
You can work into the upper trapezius, levator scapulae and supraspinatus with your thumb and knuckles.
