29 Neck Lateral Flexion

Decreased lateral flexion of neck.



Proceed cautiously and work only to limit of your client’s comfort. Their ear doesn’t need to touch their shoulder. The purpose of this technique is to get a good stretch.



With your client supine bring their ear to one shoulder with their nose pointing straight up toward the ceiling.

While pressing their head into their shoulder stroke down the side of their neck and press the other shoulder inferiorally. Work into the muscles on the side of the neck while they are stretched.

Do the same on the opposite side.
