With your client’s foot opposite their other knee, press their knee away from you as far as is comfortable, while holding their shoulder to the table. This is a non-specific stretch as it works all the external rotators of the femur as well as some of the rotators of the spine. This stretch may help with sciatic pain.
Have your client attempt to bring their knee back toward you against your resistance - only as strong and as long as is comfortable.
As the piriformis and external rotators fatigue, release the stretch, allowing your client’s knee to come back toward you.
