SUMMARY:Nerve Glide Techniques - Sioux Falls\, South Dakota
DESCRIPTION:  \nNerve impingement issues can mimic musculoskeletal problems. Some examples include tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)\, which may be caused by radial nerve entrapment\, and iliotibial band pain resulting from impingement of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. \nIn this workshop\, you will learn ways to assess if a problem is caused by nerve impingement and easy and effective ways to relieve it by using movement to tension and glide the nerve along its path. \nFor the upper extremity\, we will cover the assessment of nerve impingement problems\, differentiating between median\, ulnar\, and radial nerve impingement syndromes. We will then work with impingement areas for the brachial plexus\, including the nerve roots\, scalenes\, first rib and clavicle\, and pectoralis minor. This will be followed by specific work on impingement areas in the upper extremity for the median\, ulnar\, and radial nerves. We will follow this with neurodynamic work\, also known as nerve gliding\, to gently move the affected nerves through their channels and help improve nerve function. We will then reassess to note any improvement that has occurred. \nWe will perform similar work on the lower extremity\, assessing impingement problems involving the sciatic\, tibial\, peroneal\, femoral\, and obturator nerves. We will work on the lower back\, and the piriformis\, psoas\, and iliacus\, before addressing specific areas of impingement that affect the nerves in the lower extremity. We will follow this with neurodynamic work and assessment. \nWe will also assess and treat cutaneous nerve impingement with specific pain patterns\, including the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve\, cluneal nerves\, and pudendal nerve. \n\n\n\n\nComprehensive notes will be given to the class. After completing this class\, you should be able to help your clients with nerve impingement problems. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease bring shorts and a sports bra for women. I will demonstrate techniques using massage cups to relieve tension on nerves\, so please bring your cups if you have them. Cups are not required for this workshop. \n\n\n\n\nDownload a flyer to post at your workplace or share with your colleagues \nRegister for this class with the South Dakota School of Massage Therapy

SUMMARY:Soft Tissue Release - Spencer\, Iowa
DESCRIPTION:August 17\, 2026\nMonday 9 am – 6 pm\n(8 hours) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSoft Tissue Release is a very effective technique to help people in pain. It involves client movement to enhance the effectiveness of the work. \nThere are many variations in the type of movement used with Soft Tissue Release. We can work with muscles while stretching them\, either actively or passively. We can also work with muscles while the client contracts them\, using either concentric or eccentric contraction. \nWe will explore these variations and the rationale for using them. Once the principles are understood\, it is easy to apply this technique anywhere in the body. Tips and tricks for body mechanics and positioning will be shown to make it easy for the therapist. \nExtensive notes will be provided with this class. Please bring shorts and a sports bra or swimsuit top for women. \nDownload a flyer to post at your workplace or share with your colleagues \nFor information and registration\, please visit https://ce.iowalakes.edu/ce_program/massage-therapy-classes/

SUMMARY:Trigger Point and Counterstrain - Newport\, Maine
DESCRIPTION:Learn a painless and effective way of releasing trigger points! \nIf you have had trigger point work\, you know how painful the treatments can be. Fortunately\, there is another therapy that works synergistically with trigger point work to make it painless and even more effective. \nStrain Counterstrain work\, also known as Positional Release\, uses positioning to help reduce the pain-spasm cycle for effective trigger point release. Once you learn the principles of this work\, you can apply it anywhere in the body. \nIn this class\, you will learn: \n• different types of trigger points\n• how to find trigger points\n• common referred pain patterns\n• how to position your client so there is no pain during treatment\n• body mechanics to make this work easier for you \nTrigger points are a major cause of musculoskeletal pain\, so this work can help your clients to become pain-free. \nExtensive notes will be provided with this class. \nPlease wear athletic attire for this workshop. \n($150 plus $10 materials fee) \nDownload a flyer to post at your workplace or share with your colleagues \nRegister for this workshop at:\nBloom Healing Arts School \nor by calling 207-368-9979 \nSpace is limited! \n$200 + $10 materials

SUMMARY:Nerve Glide Techniques - Newport\, Maine
DESCRIPTION:Nerve impingement issues can mimic musculoskeletal problems. Some examples are tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)\, which may be due to entrapment of the radial nerve\, or Iliotibial band tightness or pain from impingement of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. \nIn this workshop\, you will learn ways to assess whether a problem is caused by nerve impingement and easy and effective ways to relieve nerve impingement by using movement to tension and glide the nerve along its path. \nFor the upper extremity\, we will cover the assessment of nerve impingement\, differentiating among median\, ulnar\, and radial nerve impingement syndromes. We will then work with impingement areas for the brachial plexus\, including the nerve roots\, scalenes\, first rib and clavicle\, and pectoralis minor. This will be followed by specific work for impingement areas in the upper extremity for the median\, ulnar\, and radial nerves. We will follow with neurodynamic work\, or nerve gliding\, to move the affected nerves through their channels and improve nerve function\, then reassess to note any improvement. \nWe will perform similar work on the lower extremity\, assessing impingement of the sciatic\, tibial\, peroneal\, femoral\, and obturator nerves. We will work on the lower back\, piriformis\, psoas\, and iliacus before focusing on specific nerve impingement areas in the lower extremity. We will follow this with neurodynamic work and assessment. \nWe will also assess and treat cutaneous nerve impingement with specific pain patterns\, including the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve\, cluneal nerves\, and the pudendal nerve. \nThis class will include extensive notes. After completing it\, you should be able to help more of your clients with nerve impingement problems. \n\n\n\n\nPlease bring shorts and a sports bra for women. \n\n\n\n\nDownload a flyer to post at your workplace or share with your colleagues. \nRegister for this workshop at:\nBloom Healing Arts School \nor by calling 207-368-9979 \nSpace is limited! \n$200 + $10 materials

SUMMARY:Massage Cupping - Anamosa\, Iowa
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe $25 materials fee covers a set of four silicone massage cups. \nMassage cupping is a powerful tool to enhance your practice. Along with soft tissue release\, the synergy of these techniques helps to: \n• Relieve chronic muscle tension\n• Release adhesions\n• Prepare clients for deeper work \nThe cups are transparent\, simple to use\, and don’t require heat or combustion. Best of all\, they’re easy on your hands! \nWorkshop topics include: \n• History of cupping\n• Cautions and contraindications\n• Unique ways cups can be used with movement \nYou’ll leave the workshop with extensive notes\, a set of 4 silicone cups\, and a variety of ways to incorporate cupping into your next massage session with a client. \nRegister online at http://www.carlsoncollege.com/cont.-education.html or by calling 319-462-3402 \n($200 + $25 materials) \nDownload a flyer to post at your workplace or share with your colleagues

SUMMARY:Touch Therapy for the Critically\, Chronically\, and Terminally Ill - Roseville CA
DESCRIPTION:October 24 & 25\, 2026\n\n\nSaturday & Sunday – 9 am – 6 pm\n16 Hours – $225 (Class materials included) \n\n\n\n\nTouch Therapy / Conscious Touch is best defined as a gentle\, rhythmic\, light-compression modality that is much like lymphedema treatment (not lymphatic drainage).  It can be performed through clothing\, sheets\, or other barriers\, so there is no need for a client to disrobe.  There is also no need to use oils or creams when administering this modality\, which helps prevent contamination of the client’s area. \nThis workshop will teach you to design a session that helps you pay attention to your client from head to toe.  This modality offers incredible benefits through gently improving circulation\, which is especially important for those who are mostly physically inactive/stagnant.  It helps them process much of the pharmaceutical residue left behind in their lymph nodes\, which are located throughout their body. \nThe session puts the provider in contact with a majority of the client’s body using a combination of gentle\, balanced\, light compression strokes that often put the client into the deepest\, most restful sleep they have had in a long time. \nAnother remarkable aspect of Conscious Touch is that it helps bring clarity to a client’s thoughts and memory.  It is also wonderful for use on infants\, centenarians\, or anyone in between. \n  \nThis workshop is taught by Brenda Chacon \n\n\n\n\nBrenda Chacon has been deeply involved in the caregiving industry for over 3 decades. She has had the joy of wearing many hats along the way\, including Private Caregiver\, End-of-Life Doula\, Hospice Volunteer\, both as an Independent Contractor and as a Touch Therapy Instructor. She is currently in the CNA reinstatement process.  She has co-taught this program with the nonprofit president 3 times and has completed courses on Death and Dying\, Poetry\, Critical Reading and Thinking\, and Palliative Care and Pain Management.  She has made over 200 visits with hospice clients through Healing Hands\, Healing Hearts alone.  Add that to the number she has served on her own and through UC Davis Hospice\, and it will make you dizzy.  You are in for a joyous treat with this embracing training. \nLearn more about Healing Hands\, Healing Hearts:  www.healinghandshealinghearts.org \nBrenda Chacon is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a CE provider (provider #1001773). \n\nDownload a flyer to post at your workplace or share with your colleagues. \nClass size is limited to 12 students. \nRegister by calling 916-847-9304 or by clicking here.
